With regard to the current unstable situation on international aviation markets and numerous restrictions related to the movement of SARS-CoV-2 in the era of the coronavirus pandemic, the Board of LOT Polish Airlines has decided to extend the suspension of air services. All LOT’s passenger flights, domestic and international, scheduled until 31 May 2020, have been canceled.

The decision of the Management Board of LOT Polish Airlines canceling flights until May 31, 2020, is primarily dictated by numerous restrictions on business and tourist traffic within the European Union and other countries, including restrictive restrictions imposed on foreign travelers. At the same time, we are closely observing the changing local and international regulations concerning the opening of borders and the launch of infrastructure necessary to handle air traffic. We constantly estimate the potential for resuming passenger connections and create scenarios related to the demand for specific destinations. Due to the unstable situation on international markets and intensive preventive measures in the COVID-19 area, it is still too early to indicate specific dates for resuming passenger connections with LOT Polish Airlines.

Moreover, LOT Polish Airlines, as part of internal procedures, is working intensively on new safety standards for resuming flights. The analyzed scenarios include, among others, the introduction of the principle of “social distancing” on board of LOT aircrafts. Additional guidelines related to the protection of on-board crews or monitoring of passengers’ health are also considered, based on the recommendations of the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate, EASA, and the procedures prepared and successfully implemented in Operation #LOTdoDomu.

Taking into account the comfort of our passengers in this difficult situation, we have modified the existing policy of ticket exchange. The flexible ability to manage reservations now includes a number of facilitations such as using the value of the ticket in the form of a voucher, the ability to plan a trip at a different time, or the possibility of re-routing. The time to make a decision has been extended to 12 months from the date of purchase of the ticket. A detailed offer is available on our website at lot.com. Due to a very large number of incoming applications and extended waiting times, we have also provided passengers with an electronic form, which enables them to register their applications on their own. Changes in the booking can also be made via LOT Contact Center and the agent from whom the ticket was purchased.
