The 3rd edition of the LOT Polish Airlines Best Thesis Competition has been launched. The aim of the competition is to promote knowledge of aviation among universities and to encourage young graduates to combine their passion with a scientific approach. The competition is an original initiative of PLL LOT in close cooperation with the academic community in Poland.

The initiative, initiated and authored by the national carrier, is for students and graduates. The aim of the competition is to promote aviation knowledge among universities and to encourage young graduates to combine their passion with a scientific approach. Many attractive prizes await for the winners – including airline tickets and cash prizes. And that’s not all of it! The selected winners of the competition will be invited by the national carrier to a 3-month internship under the wings of LOT.
The 3rd edition of the Competition has been launched!
Following the success of the previous editions, LOT Polish Airlines will choose, for the third time, the authors of the best thesis in the areas of passenger and cargo aviation. The competition is addressed to graduates of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes and postgraduate studies at public and non-public universities from all over Poland, who graduated in the academic year 2022/2023 and in 2023/2024 and defended their diploma thesis between 30th of September 2022 and 30th of September 2024. The thematic area of the diploma theses in the competition is Contemporary airline: challenges, perspectives, development from an operational, commercial, financial and ESG point of view. The defended theses, including a set of documents, should be sent by email to: student@lot.pl by 15th of October 2024.

Competition jury and evaluation criteria
The Competition Jury of the third edition of the competition includes representatives from: Kozminski University, Bialystok University of Technology, Poznan University of Technology, Rzeszow University of Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw School of Economics, Lazarski University, Jagiellonian University, University of Rzeszow, University of Bialystok, University of Warsaw, University of Wroclaw, Military University of Technology, School of Banking and representatives of LOT Polish Airlines.
The experts will assess the level of the competition entries in terms of, among other things:
- originality and degree of difficulty of the subject matter,
- the convergence of the content with the aviation subject matter,
- accuracy and correctness of the research methods used,
- topicality of the subject matter,
- applicability of the thesis results in business practice.
