Shared IT Services Centre of the Polish Aviation Group
How air carriers cooperate – more than just codeshare
Podsumowanie miesiąca w spółkach
In this issue we take a closer look at the process of building a Shared Services Centre (SSC) for the Polish Aviation Group (PGL) – the key pillars of the company’s strategy for the years ahead.
The second main topic is How air carriers cooperate – more than just codeshare.
In the ‘Company News’: LOT Polish Airlines has signed a contract for the provision of air transportation services and MEDEVAC operations, construction of the LOTAMS technical base in Rzeszów is gaining momentum and the company is celebrating its 15th anniversary. LSAS: Flynas offers a new route from Kraków, LS Technics internship programme and 10 years of LOT Flight Academy – a decade full of passion and growth.
The process of building a Shared Services Centre (SSC) for the Polish Aviation Group (PGL) – being one of the key pillars of the company’s strategy for the years ahead – commenced formally at the end of last year. As in any other large organisation, the SSC is expected to provide services for the benefit of all Group entities.
Such a concentration of specific tasks in one entity is not unusual in corporate structures, and may in fact be considered a common solution. The synergies that may be achieved by integrating various activities and more efficient use of resources are one of the key objectives behind establishing Shared Services Centres. SSCs allow organisations to better prepare for their future growth and for the roll out of modern technologies.

Cooperation between airlines can take various forms, but the goal is usually the same – to expand the range of options available to passengers. Through such partnerships, LOT can offer connections to destinations it does not serve directly, or provide alternatives on different days or times when it doesn’t operate flights itself.
Thanks to cooperation, airlines can leverage their network synergies and offer passengers more than would be possible based solely on their own fleet and operated routes.
