Polish Aviation Academy – how we train our crew
Aviation crucial for the European Union: decarbonisation yes, but not at the expense of competitiveness
Companies’ summary of the month
In this issue we take a closer look at the activities of the Polish Aviation Academy – established to consolidate all high-quality training programmes for cabin and cockpit crew within the Polish Aviation Group. Who they train, how their fleet looks, and their plans for future development – you’ll find answers to all these questions inside.
Our second main topic is a report from the conference on the future of Europe’s aviation sector, organised in Brussels as part of Poland’s presidency of the EU Council. Discussions highlighted the strategic importance of investment in aviation infrastructure in strengthening the EU’s economic resilience and competitiveness. Speakers also drew attention to significant challenges posed by tougher climate regulations and unfair competition from non-EU airlines.
In the ‘Company News’ section, we cover LOT Polish Airlines launching direct flights to Malaga and becoming the official carrier of Poland’s participation in Expo 2025. At LOT Flight Academy, we report record attendance for MCC/JOC training sessions. Other news includes a major milestone at the LOTAMS facility in Rzeszów – the successful completion of its first full D‑Check on a Boeing 787, LST Employee Satisfaction Survey and LS Airport Services’ account of the Zero Carbon Turn Live Day – Hydrogen Trial, held at Exeter Airport in the UK.
We wish you an enjoyable read.
The Editorial Team
Europe’s aviation sector is facing major challenges. In an evolving global landscape – where protectionism is growing, and national industries increasingly benefit from state support – a purely free-market approach may no longer be effective. The European Union’s push for rapid decarbonisation within transport risks undermining aviation competitiveness. The industry is becoming increasingly vocal about the need for a balanced approach, and now has an opportunity to make Brussels policymakers listen.
The heart of the Academy’s activities is pilot training, which constitutes as much as 85% of PAL’s total service portfolio. This area is crucial for passenger safety, which makes it our priority
