Within the Polish Aviation Group, there are currently two MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) entities – LS Technics (LST) and LOT Aircraft Maintenance Services (LOTAMS) – which provide aircraft maintenance services. MRO is currently a rapidly growing and increasingly important industry, without which aviation cannot function efficiently.

In 2024, the global demand for MRO services in civil aviation reached a level exceeding $100 billion, reaching a level higher than before the pandemic. According to forecasts, by 2034, the demand for technical aircraft maintenance services is expected to grow and reach 124 billion USD. Central and Eastern Europe will be one of the fastest growing regions, where the dynamic growth of air traffic and

expansion of carrier fleets will significantly increase the demand for MRO services.

This trend brings new challenges for the industry. MRO companies face global challenges such as difficulties in sourcing engines and limited access to critical parts due to a tense geopolitical situation.

Moreover, the insufficient hangar infrastructure hinders the handling of the growing number of aircraft. Companies are also competing for qualified technical professionals, as a lack of such professionals could hinder the timely and efficient execution of projects.

Faced with these challenges, MRO companies are focusing on investing in the development of human resources and the modernisation of infrastructure in order to remain competitive and meet the growing demands of the market.

LS Technics

LST has line maintenance bases at seven Polish airports, i.e. in Katowice, Gdańsk, Warsaw, Bydgoszcz, Kraków, Wrocław and Poznań, and in Katowice and Gdańsk it also operates hangars, which allows for the provision of full base maintenance at these airports. The company provides expert services for a fleet of ca. 180 aircraft, mainly the Airbus A320, Boeing 737 (CL/NG/MAX) and Embraer 170/190 (E1) families. LST’s portfolio also includes NDT and engine borescope inspections as well as training for technical staff (PART-147).

Most of LST’s clients come from the European and Middle Eastern markets, including airlines such as Wizz Air, PLL LOT, TAP Portugal, and Air Arabia, as well as the operator Avion Express.

LST embarked on 2025 by commencing intensive works on the implementation of a new system that will digitise and streamline service processes.

The company also acquired an

auxiliary service slot in Katowice and commenced preparations for the expansion of the office and staff facilities in Gdańsk. The storage area is also being systematically expanded in both bases.

In the near future, LST will focus on investing in hangar infrastructure at the Katowice and Gdańsk airports and developing programmes to support the education of future staff, including cooperation with technical schools and internship programmes.

Also, LST sees great potential in the development of workshop services and is consistently expanding its activities in this area. Last year, a modern paint shop was opened at the Katowice base, and the composite repair workshop was upgraded.

“In the long term, we aim to increase our service capabilities and focus heavily on diversifying our customer portfolio. As we are a very flexible company, we are constantly looking for market opportunities for new services or new customers,” says Tadeusz Stachera, President of the Management Board of LS Technics.

2024 was an extremely busy year for LS Technics. Despite the many challenges, we managed to set several records: we won 20 new customers, completed 140 base maintenance checks and 150 engine replacements, trained 950 pilots and issued a total of 4,500 training certificates. Last year also marked the 30th anniversary of our company, which was a good reason to refresh our logo.

LOT Aircraft Maintenance Services

Until recently, LOTAMS’ activities were focused mainly on its base in Warsaw, where the company’s hangars and base are located at the Chopin Airport. One of the highlights of 2024 was the opening of the new base in Rzeszów. Two hangars at the Jasionka airport have been rented, increasing LOTAMS’ operational activity by three new slots dedicated to the maintenance of the B787 Dreamliner and B737. Moreover, the next stage of the LOTAMS construction project was completed, bringing the company one step closer to opening one of the most modern bases in Central and Eastern Europe.

LOTAMS’ main customer is LOT Polish Airlines, for which the company provides base handling services for the entire fleet (Embraer 170/175/190/195, Boeing 737 Classic, NG, MAX/787 Dreamliner).

In addition to providing comprehensive services to the national carrier, LOTAMS also supports carriers from other countries. In the past year, the company partnered with Royal Air Maroc and Air Canada, just to mention a few. In 2024, LOTAMS

cooperated with customers from India, Canada, Poland, the Czech Republic, Italy, Ireland, Morocco, Germany, the Netherlands, Greenland and Lithuania. In early 2025, the company completed its first A‑Check on an Embraer E2, which was a subsequent step in developing its competence in the maintenance of the latest aircraft models. Most overhauls were carried out on B737 and Embraer E1 aircraft.

Like LST, LOTAMS also continuously supports the development of future aviation specialists. Last year, a patronage agreement was signed with Dr. Z. Klukowski School Complex No. 2 in Szczebrzeszyn, to name just one.

Together with the construction progress in Rzeszów, an intensive recruitment process is underway. The number of employees is expected to increase by 16 percent compared to the previous year. This will include both experienced specialists and technical high school graduates

In 2024, LOTAMS carried out 38 714 line maintenance checks, 28 paintings and 110 base maintenance services, 5 of which were carried out at the base in Rzeszów. In 2025, we will start the first D‑checks on Boeing B787 aircraft. The checks represent the highest level of maintenance and require an advanced infrastructure, expert knowledge and the experience of our team. LOTAMS will be the third service organisation in the world to perform this type of check. The construction of our base in Rzeszów also remains a priority and is entering a critical phase. I firmly believe that the performance of these two strategic projects will contribute significantly to the further development of our company, opening up new opportunities and strengthening our position in the aviation market
