In connection with Chopin Airport joining the International ‘Hidden Disabilities Sunflower’ Programme, all LS Airport Services S.A. employees working at the Warsaw Handling Branch and having direct contact with passengers will be trained to assist passengers with so-called hidden disabilities. The goal of the ‘Hidden Disabilities Sunflowers’ programme is to raise awareness of conditions that are not immediately visible, such as autism, anxiety, ADHD, and chronic illnesses. The Sunflower symbol, displayed on a green background as an identifier or part of a passenger’s clothing, discreetly signals to airport staff that the individual may require additional support. Passengers using the Sunflower symbol are not considered PRM (Persons with Reduced Mobility) passengers, meaning they do not require formal assistance, but they can request additional help at any point during their journey if needed. The first airport in Poland to join the HD Sunflower Programme in 2020 was Jan Paweł II Krakow-Balice Airport.
