The topic of the March issue of PGL Aviation Review <\/em>is dedicated to women in aviation. According to the World Economic Forum, the countries with the highest level of gender equality tend to have the highest GDP per capita. Equal access to employment and equal pay for women and men promote economic development and improve the quality of life. How are things going in the aviation industry? Read on to find the answer on next pages.<\/p>

In this issue, we also take a look at the MRO market. Forecasts show that the demand for aircraft maintenance and repair services will continue to grow in the coming years. For many years, the aviation industry was considered to be predominantly male-dominated. This, however, did not apply to cabin crew as such. Yet, quite recently, things started to change and women are increasingly taking their places not only in the pilot\u2019s seat.<\/strong><\/p>

The European Union, the International Labour Organization and a number of institutions worldwide are working towards gender equality. Achieving gender equality in employment and equal pay for equal work promotes economic development and increases the standard of living. Maintenance Repair and Overhaul, or what exactly is MRO about<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Within the Polish Aviation Group, there are currently two MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) entities \u2013 LST and LOTAMS \u2013 which provide aircraft maintenance services. MRO is currently a rapidly growing and increasingly important industry, without which aviation cannot function efficiently.<\/strong><\/p>

In 2024, the global demand for MRO services in civil aviation reached a level exceeding $100 billion, and was expected to be higher than before the pandemic. By 2034, the demand for technical aircraft maintenance services is expected to reach 124 billion USD. Central and Eastern Europe will be among the fastest growing regions, which should be associated with the rapid growth of air traffic and the expansion of the fleets of carriers active in the region.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Aviation is still mainly associated with men, but women are bravely storming the cockpits. At LOT Polish Airlines, we already make up 7 percent of the crew, exceeding the global average of 4 percent. This is a positive trend that I hope will continue.<\/em><\/p>

Even though a woman in the cockpit comes as a surprise to some passengers, their reactions are very positive, which proves that social awareness is evolving. I often hear that women at work are known for their self-control, patience and focus on procedures. Maybe, but I feel that piloting skills do not depend on gender, but on knowledge of procedures, competence and experience.<\/em><\/p>

I encourage all women to follow their dreams of flying. At LOT Polish Airlines, we already have 60 women at the controls and I firmly believe there will be more of us. Aviation is passion, challenge and a dream come true \u2013 it\u2019s worth fighting for!<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Supervisory Board of PGL S.A. has completed the qualification process and appointed Mr. Pawe\u0142 Hajduk as Board Member for Finance and Economics, who took office on March 18.<\/p>

Pawe\u0142 Hajduk is a manager with 23 years of experience in finance, restructuring, and business development. He has held key executive positions in international companies, including CFO at Boryszew Automotive Plastic, Vice President of the Management Board at Solaris Bus & Coach (2014\u200a\u2013\u200a2022), where he led financial strategy and business growth, and Division CFO at Actona Poland (2023\u200a\u2013\u200a2024). In March, LOT announced a new connection from Warsaw-Radom to Barcelona, and the carrier\u2019s best business partners were honoured during the TOP Agent Gala. In Athens, the company was recognised for its outstanding performance in 2024 at the Airline Marketing Workshop in Athens. At the same time, LOTAMS continued its cooperation with Air Tahiti Nui, and LS Technics commenced servicing Embraer ERJ-175s for Oman Air as part of its partnership with Nelson Parts LLC.<\/p>

LS Airport Services welcomed a new Board Member and participated in talks about restoring air traffic in Ukraine. PAA celebrates 10th <\/sup>anniversary of LOT Flight Academy by announcing a competition to design a livery for Tecnam aircraft.
